Oct 2021: Metformin is a drug that should be taken constantly, and twice a day in order to obtain the optimal benefit. The TAME study is at 850mg, twice a day. Adequate hydration, hepatic and renal function must be carefully maintained. It has serious side-effects, some fatal. It should not to be self-medicated. Commonly used for lifetime, diabetics mortality lower than non-diabetics, Inhibits dementia, diabetes, covid, against many age-related diseases. In mice, extend 10% life, others 7-15%; similar to rapamycin. Intervention Testing Program at NIH-test drugs at 3 centers; metformin had no statistical effect-7%, 12%, -10% at three centers. From Ken D: There have been questions raised about the effects of rapamycin on glucose. I’ve been taking rapamycin for several years now (5 mg per week). I also wear a CGM. In addition to rapamycin, I take 1000 mg of metformin daily.  As you can see from the chart below I don’t have any glucose problems arising from my use of rapamycin.  I should also mention that I stick to a low carb diet.
